Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for auxiliary plant and equipment monitoring and operation
- Access, interpret and apply, monitoring and operation of auxiliary plant and equipment, documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the activity
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
- Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
- Establish and maintain communication with other personnel using approved communication methods
- Carry out equipment pre-start checks
- Use dust suppression and extraction methods
- Carry out plant and equipment inspections and checks
- Check correct plant operation prior to start-up
- Check condition of plant and equipment for fault, identify damaged and inoperable equipment and report to relevant personnel
- Complete all required written documentation for shift hand-over.
- Physically, continuously inspect plant, take equipment indicator readings and identify and rectify defects and potential problems
- Communicate all shift information verbally or in writing to oncoming shift
- Operate and monitor plant and equipment
- Carry out plant and equipment start-up checks and procedures
- Monitor operating plant and equipment for correct, efficient performance
- Changeover auxiliary/ancillary plant to meet operational and maintenance requirements
- Interpret and respond to plant alarms, take remedial actions and notify appropriate personnel
- Identify basic faults and adjustments and make repairs to running/operating plant where necessary to maintain plant performance
- Complete all written required documentation clearly, concisely and on time
- Maintain plant and equipment efficiency
- Carry out plant and equipment maintenance
- Check and adjust plant condition to maintain efficient operation
- Clear pipeline and pumping system blockages
- Maintain materials storage vessel levels to meet plant operating demands
- Clean plant to maintain condition of all equipment and work area hygiene
- Identify and report hazards
- Take and test samples
- Shutdown and/or isolate plant and equipment
- Conduct housekeeping activities
